Summer in New York: what to expect from the city that never sleeps

The official marketing organization for New York, NYC & Company, has just revealed the main attractions and news for the summer season.

Between June and August, about 19 million visitors are expected to be drawn to the five districts of the city that never sleeps in view of monumental inaugurations, major events and classic touristic sights.

The summer season is a must see in New York! “Summer brings a unique energy to the five districts, it’s a wonderful time to explore the diversity and excitement of our neighborhoods”, says Fred Dixon, President & CEO at NYC & Company.

Keep an eye on the upcoming events to explore all that the city has to offer:

+ Hudson Yards – opened on March 15 in the west side of Manhattan, this is New York’s newest neighborhood, overlooking the Hudson River, with Hudson Yards shopping center, restaurants and shops. By the end of this summer, the neighborhood will feature the first Equinox Hotel;

+ Bronx Zoo Dinosaur Safari – opened in April as the largest and most realistic dinosaur tour of the United States at the Bronx Zoo, the experience includes 40 full-size animatronic dinosaurs that will hide themselves in a wooded area of ​​8,000 square meters inside the park;

+ TWA Hotel – opening next May at JFK Airport, TWA Hotel, housed in the former TWA Flight Center, will be the new hotel with 512 rooms and a lot of luxury;

+ Empire Outlets – for the shopping fans, this is incredible News: another destination will open in the city, just steps from the Staten Island Ferry, with 100 shops and dining experiences for all tastes;

+ Statue of Liberty Museum – Liberty Island will offer visitors another activity at the time of the Statue of Liberty Museum’s premiere in May. The new interactive space will offer immersive tour and precious views of the Statue;

Among the major events are the World Science Festival, which runs from May 28 to June 2. The Science Celebration Week features more than 60 events that transport science to the streets, parks, museums, and art centers.

Yet in June, some of the world’s most prestigious museums will host a free party. Museum Mile Festival will offer visitors the possibility of free tours to many and fantastic collections.

On July 4, in celebration of the independence of the United States, the largest pyrotechnics show in the country will catch everyone’s attention – Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, with its fireworks display, will light up the New York skyline, gathering around 03 millions of viewers.
